A large share of Pinterest is signposting rather than hosting - a Pin is frequently a preview that links out to a recipe, article or shop on another site. Video Pins and Idea Pins are the two formats where Pinterest hosts the media itself, and those are the ones a link can do anything with. Working out which kind of Pin you are looking at is most of the job.

Check where the video actually lives. If the Pin shows a source domain and clicking it sends you to another website, the video is hosted there, not on Pinterest. In that case the other site's URL is the one that matters.
Copy the link. Use the share icon and choose Copy link, which gives you either a pinterest.com/pin/ address with a numeric ID or a short pin.it link. On desktop you can copy the address bar instead.

Tips for Pinterest links
- A pin.it link is a redirect. Opening it in a browser gives you the full pinterest.com/pin/ address, which is more informative.
- The numeric ID in a Pin URL identifies that specific Pin. The same video saved by ten people produces ten different Pin IDs, all pointing at the same media.
- Idea Pins are sequences. Expect a multi-page item rather than the single page you happened to be viewing.
